Towering by Alex Flinn is one out of five "Modern Fairy Tale Retelling" collection first published by Harper Teen in 2013. With the title, you can easily guess it's base on Rapunzel. I read a few reviews on google reads and at the average, it's rated 3.3. I had my doubts buying it but a hardbound copy was on sale for Php 199 at National Bookstore so I thought to give it a try.
I'm a sucker for good packaging it'll definitely get your attention from the bookshelf but that's just about it. It took me two weeks to finish reading it and I'm not busy. It's just not much of a page turner. In my opinion, it's trying to be too mysterious to the point that you have to read every boring detail of them claiming their love for each other so you could get to the "reveal" point, but when you get there, it's just another let down. The only thing I like about it are the few quotes I can relate to.
"Sometimes, people are more comfortable with sticking with what they know, even if it's bad, instead of taking a chance on something that would probably be better but might be worse."
