2016 have been a productive year for me although, honestly, none on my list was actually accomplished in full. Yet it was filled with successful unplanned activities which made my year a lot more exciting. I've never let my instinct take the wheel before but things get crazy busy all at once, I didn't have much time to brood on anything that's been going on.
Pageant
My year started with winning a beauty pageant. It wasn't like me to join contests like that but since it's part of my job to represent my department, I didn't have a choice but to follow my boss's orders. I ended up having fun trying on clothes and walking the ramp. The event also allowed me to conquer my fear of being judged on stage by the crowd.
Buying Something Useful
I've been working since 18 and the only useful thing I got myself is a small digital camera. I spend a lot on bags, foot wear, clothing, etc but not on expensive things that I actually need. One day, my gadgets just stopped working and for the first, I had to purchase a phone and a laptop. I needed it for work so I had to.
Reading Books
Don't get me wrong. I do read books but most of the times, if not a textbook, I'm reading those that are business related and for self improvement. Then I found one precious novel that got me interested into reading more of the same genre. This is probably the year that I finished reading the most number of novels throughout my 20+ years of existence.
Going out on Weekends
I prefer staying at home but I felt like I'm missing a lot because of it so I decided to try and go out more often since I'm already finished with my schooling (well almost). I get to watch more movies, enjoy meal time on restaurants I like and even get to try new ones, and take time shopping.
Skipping Work
I went out of town alone mid day, in the middle of the week with less than P500.00 in my wallet. I needed a breather so I took half of the day off pretending I have an important matter to attend to. I took a short bus trip to a nearby province and visited a really close friend to have a chat. I didn't stay long though since I have to go home before traffic starts to build up on roads I have to pass through. It felt nice.
Started Blogging (again)
I started blogging again. This time, I'm looking forward to making it more professional although it's a combination of lifestyle and personal blogging. After so many years, this is the first time I actually considered my future as a blog owner and publisher. I have so much to do and learn but this time I have no plans on quitting and keeping my posts private.
Davao
Davao has been in my bucket list of places to go to ever since. I can cross it out now but only half way. I've been busy with seminars instead of actually checking out places so I think I should go back as a tourist first before crossing it out completely.
Getting Parts of our Family Home Renovated
This is my biggest accomplishment this year and I'm really proud of it. I took a loan to get it done and have to pay it for the next 3 years but I'm just glad I did. I think it's the most usefull gift I can give my parents since I started working. My finances got a little difficult and I have to earn extra to fill in my needs but so far, I'm getting by perfectly fine.
That's it for my 2016 highlights. What's yours?
